Frequently Asked Questions

Questions on personalisation process

Q, I have a photograph/design I would like to use, how do I use this to personalise a product?

A, It really is easy to have your design printed on a product. The Personalisation Toolbox is the area in which to add your image. All you have to do is browse your computer for the image you wish to have printed. Once this is found click the Update Button and you will see your image composed on the product.

Q, Does the interactive layout show the final way my product is going to be printed?

A, In 99% of the cases yes. However if your image looks slightly misplaced we will lay your design out as we feel best. If you have a comment in regards to the way your image looks on the product, please leave a note in the Special Requests section of the Personalisation Toolbox.

Q, If the interactive layout does not show my image in the correct position what can I do?

A, If it is essential that your design is laid out accurately, the best way to do this is to upload a design with the same dimensions as the Print Area specific to that product (at min. 180DPI). If this cannot be done, please attach a note with the special requests feature. We will endeavour to print the product as you have noted however this cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances.

Q, How do I make my design layout more accurate?

A, To get the best accuracy with your design layout, you should create a design with the same dimensions as the Print Area specified for the product you wish to personalise (at min.180DPI).

Q, Can I move images and text around with the Personalisation Toolbox?

A, It is not possible to move images and text with the Personalisation Toolbox. The Toolbox allows you to fit your image within the products print area, or to fill all of the print area with your image. The best way to have a product printed exactly to your specifications is to design an image with the same dimensions as the products Print Area.

Q, Which kind of image files can I upload using the Personalisation Toolbox?

A, You can upload Jpeg files only.

Q, How do I know if the image I upload is good quality or poor quality?

A, Orange Hedgehog does provide a warning if the image quality is too low for a specific product, however this warning works within general guidelines and is not guaranteed. The best way to guarantee your image is of a high standard for printing is to follow these rules:

  • Make sure your image in focus.
  • Ensure your image has a resolution of at least 180 DPI
  • Ensure the “actual” size of your image (at 180 DPI) covers the Print Area for the product you wish to personalise.

As a general rule, if your image is from a digital camera (with 3 Mega Pixels or more) the highest quality setting will be more than enough for the printing of most products.

Q, I have a poor quality image, will this print well?

A, If you upload a poor quality image for a product the print quality will be poor. We will have to print with this image regardless of the quality. So please do take your time to ensure you are happy with the quality of the image you upload.

We can only print a product to the same standard as the image you upload. Therefore…

  • A poor quality image = low quality print on your product
  • A good quality image = high quality print on your product
